SHA faculty and staff prayed together on Friday at an in-service for Martin Luther King, Jr. The community learned of several local opportunities to serve on MLK day. The response was overwhelming, but certainly not a surprise given the life-long commitment to service by so many Sacred Heart educators. On MLK Day, and a day off from school, the faculty and staff made hundreds of sandwiches for homeless individuals in Kensington to be distributed through volunteers with The Sisters of Charity. Other organizations in which F&S served were:

Letters of Love for the Elderly
Lots for a Cause - Ronald McDonald House
Recycling Card Program - St. Jude’s Hospital
T-Shirt Bags - Sankofa Farms
Books - Project Home
Advocacy Letters and
Kids Against Hunger

Goal 3, Criteria 6: “The school community engages in direct service, advocacy, outreach and partnerships to work for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.”
