The U.S. is experiencing a “national blood crisis” during what the American Red Cross says is the worst blood shortage in over a decade. The need for blood is constant in healthcare. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. And with a shelf life of 42 days, blood can’t be stockpiled.
To assist with the shortage, SHA will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, March 24, from noon until 5:00pm in Dooley Gymnasium.
In general, donors must ...
- Be in good general health and feeling well.
- Be at least 17 years old.
- Weigh at least 110 pounds. Additional height and weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school student donors.
- Have not donated blood in the last 56 days.
Registration for the Blood Drive is now open. You can make your appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or by visiting RedCrossBlood.org. Type sacredheartacademy in the "Find a Blood Drive" box.
