The Fourth Grade Class traveled to Harrisburg as part of their study of Pennsylvania. During their trip to the Capital, they met Representative Jamie Santora, Representative Comitta, and Lieutenant Governor Michael Stack. They also visited the Supreme Court, the Governor's Office, and the Senate and House of Representatives. The students learned many interesting facts about the State House and basked in the beauty of the art and decor.
The State House fountain was pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month so that made a nice photo stop. The girls also debated two bills with only one passing for a vote.
Mrs. DeFeo and Miss Murtagh received MANY compliments on the girls' manners and as a result, the LT Governor invited them into his personal office and allowed the group to sit at his desk and enjoy the view from his balcony.
After a pizza lunch, the group said goodbye to the Capital Building and headed to The State Museum of Pennsylvania. There they handled fossils, saw many animals and insects that inhabit our state, posed with William Penn and a very large skeleton of a mammoth. It was a successful class trip!
