The following is a list of opportunities students may be interested in during their summer break.
Summer Opportunities not affiliated with Sacred Heart Academy:
Interested in a summer program in science, engineering, or computer science? Please take a look at this Google Sheet, shared by Mrs. Dougherty with the US students earlier this week. Some of these programs are free, some offer a stipend, and some have a fee associated with them. Of course, they are all subject to each individual program’s COVID policies.
The Foundation for International Medical Relief in Children has a program for high school students called Virtual Health Global Health Leadership Training. It runs each month through summer and students commit to weekly sessions/work. The cost is $500, per student. This is a great opportunity for students interested in health or medicine!
Temple Pre-College Programs: As a high school student, you can explore some of the fields of study available at Temple University through pre-college programs. Explore your interests, make new friends, and get a head start on your college experience. Some programs offer up to six college credits. All summer 2021 programs are virtual. Find out more here.
Tufts Pre-College Programs: As a high school student, you can engage in 2 week-long programs exploring STEM fields, International Relations, Leadership in Social Justice, Studio Art, and more. Visit Tufts Pre-College Programs | University College for more information.
AI Fluency Scholars Program: Taught by MIT, Stanford, and Oxford alums. The fully-online remote boot camp has no mandatory homework and will guide you from little or no coding experience to Artificial Intelligence fluency. This will make students stand-out in college admissions. Offering a special discount of $85 to all students of Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr - code SPECIAL_DISCOUNT.
The SHA counseling department will update this list as new opportunities arise.
