Compassionate Hearts

The Lower School day of service in the fall begins a year-long process of critical consciousness that leads to advocacy and instills a life-long commitment to service. The students live Goal Three - social awareness which impels to action in age appropriate ways and teaches respect for people who are poor, marginalized and suffering from injustice.

Some of the recent organizations students were inspired by are:
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • The MS Society
  • St. Jude Research Hospital
  • Special Olympics
  • The Gift of Life
  • Broad Street Ministry
  • Pajama Program

The Lower School community works towards a common goal of boosting awareness and being informed and raising funds to support the organizations in age appropriate ways such as prayers, bake sales, tag days, walks, collections, etc. Learn more about community service corps at SHA. Mission Statement
