After School Enhancement Opportunities

Club participation is optional and offered after school to students in Kindergarten - Grade 4. Students learn in a social environment to develop skills and interests beyond the academic classroom and are enriched in fun age appropriate activities. Information is sent home with sign up forms and fees for each club to the grades it is offered.

Empowered to be Confident

The music concerts are held in December and May. On these evenings the children display the talents that they have been developing during music classes. There is an instrumental program as well as a choral program. Kindergarten concerts are held in December and May on the morning of the last day of classes.

Creative Hearts

Creative Hearts is an opportunity to participate in a modified musical production. Each semester a new show is selected. The club meets on Monday afternoons from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. The students learn songs, script lines, dance numbers, and staging throughout the semester for the last session’s musical production. Open to Kindergarten – Grade Four.

Father's Day at School

It is a day in October for fathers or special guests to spend a day with their daughters in grades Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 5, Grade 9 and Grade 12 as they go through the school day.

Grandparent's Day

On Grandparents Day in the spring the Kindergarten invite their grandparents or special guests to their school to share a special morning.

Halloween Parade

It is held on the closest day to Halloween. The children dress up in their costumes and parade through the school. Class parties are held afterwards.

International Day

International Day is celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday during alternating years. The entire school gathers together to celebrate different cultures around the world.

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday during alternating years. The Physical Education Department provides games and prizes for the students in the lower and middle schools.

May Procession

The May Procession is held on the Friday morning before Mother’s Day. All Lower School students participate in the morning’s ceremony honoring Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Mass follows the May Procession.

Mother's Day Tea

Following the May Procession Mass, the Mothers’ Day Tea is held for the Lower School and their Mother’s Day guests. Each class performs a Mother’s Day song and refreshments are served afterwards. Students in grades Kindergarten through four wear their white dresses on this day and are dismissed after the morning’s program.

Sacred Heart schools, which originated in France in 1800, enjoy traditions that celebrate our French heritage.


A surprise in-school holiday held once a year when faculty and students K-12 join together in a day of fun


A surprise sweet snack… French word meaning” to taste” In Sacred Heart schools it refers to a snack.

Les Petite Voix

A special choir for Third and Fourth Grade students, with opportunities to perform in and out of school with the Middle and Upper School choirs.


(pronunced Preemes) is a weekly ceremony held each Friday. Academic achievement is awarded with Honor Cards and a Très Bien cards for outstanding overall achievement or Bien Cards for good to very good overall academic achievement. Behavior/courtesy are merited to all students who have demonstrated courtesy and a Courtesy Medal (St. Madeleine Sophie Barat) is awarded to two students each week. The medal is returned each Friday for the new recipients. As with all the Network Sacred Heart schools, Primes is a private ceremony for students, faculty, and administrators.

Red & White Picnic

An all-school picnic for K-12 and their families. The Lower School students have a chance to meet their teachers and bring in school supplies before the picnic.

Science Week

During this week usually in April the entire school demonstrates their enjoyment of science by participating in science related activities. The Lower School (grades 1 - 4) has their own Science Bowl where teams challenge each other to see who is the most knowledgeable in the field of science.
