Student Support Program

Educating the whole child is rooted in Sacred Heart's Mission and critical for student success and the community at large. Our comprehensive approach supports students in reaching their potential academically,  behaviorally, and/or emotionally. SHA's Student Support Services include School Counseling, Academic Support, and support from our offices of Academics and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging. Collaboration with teachers is a key practice, as it is essential in effectively supporting our students.

Sacred Heart's Student Success Pathway helps teachers identify a student's need for additional support and provides a systemized approach to student care. The Student Success Team (SST) is comprised of our school counselors, reading specialist, learning support specialist, Interim Associate Head of School, Upper School Director, Lower and Middle School Director, and Director of DEI&B.

Members of the Student Success Team also partner with families leading up to and offer guidance through an evaluation process if deemed appropriate based on student progress, family input, and teacher feedback.

What does this process look like?

There are different reasons why an evaluation may be discussed between the family and the school.  Some of those reasons could be, but are not limited to: student decline in academic success, behaviors impeding on student learning, and difficulties retaining information being taught in the classroom.  Please reach out to our Learning Specialist and Instructional Coach, Stephanie Greco, with further questions.

Sacred Heart Academy also has a limited partnership with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU). The DCIU provides academic support for all non-public schools within the county. Services can include, but are not limited to:

  • Enrichment
  • Review / Repeated practice
  • Co-teaching opportunities
  • Small group leader within the classroom setting
  • Scheduled services for students with SHA-approved paperwork of a diagnosis(es)
  • To collaborate with families if a tutor's support is requested and works within the student’s schedule

Families seeking additional support are encouraged to contact their student's teacher and/or a member of the Student Success Team directly.
