Program Descriptions and Sample Day Schedule

Program Descriptions:

Science Marvels
Dr. Dustin Covell will help campers develop their critical thinking skills through the exploration of the physical sciences. Campers will engage in daily experimentation with a focus on making predictions, recording observations, and drawing conclusions from the data gathered. We'll investigate topics like density, magnetism, electricity, acids and bases, and nanotechnology through hands-on activities, physical simulations and demonstrations.

Curiosity Cove
Students' curiosity and questions about the natural world will be examined and explored in an engaging and fun way with Biology teacher Ms. Janet Magargal. Campers will experience outdoor and indoor hands-on meaningful activities to explore biological topics ranging  from the microscopic to macroscopic world. Come share your enthusiasm with fellow campers and be inspired by others!

Verbal Voyages
Welcome to Verbal Voyages at SHA, with Mrs. Melissa Bancoff, where campers engage in daily activities that get their creative juices flowing and learn to express ideas through creative writing pieces in a fun way! Campers will complete multiple works to bring home. The sessions are designed to be interactive, fun, and engaging for all!

Summertime Art
SHA Summer Art Workshops, with artist and teacher Annette Markowitz, offer daily artistic opportunities to share our unique personalities and creativity in the spirit of  fun, freedom, and friendship!  Campers will create multiple two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork in multiple media, all in a safe, accessible environment.

Fun & Games
This portion of the program will ensure that campers have the opportunity for simple summer fun! Activities include scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, freeze tag, soccer, softball, and Olympic games, among others - all with an emphasis on teamwork and fun! Campers will team up to capture the flag and show their creative side playing Pictionary and Charades! In the heat of the summer, water days will be welcomed as campers can run through the sprinklers or participate in a water balloon toss! Endless possibilities for creativity, play time, and innovation await!
