Welcome

"And we must remember that each one of our children is destined for a mission in life. Neither we nor they can know now what it is, but we must know and make them believe that each one has a mission in life and that she is bound to find out what it is, that there is some special work for God which will remain undone unless she does it and some place in life which no one else can fill.”

Excerpted from The Education of Catholic Girls by Janet Erskine Stuart, Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (RSCJ), 1912

From Our Head of School

Dear Sacred Heart Academy Community,

Welcome to Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr, a proud Sacred Heart School guided by the vision of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart and Schools of the Sacred Heart in France in the early nineteenth century. We are a Catholic independent all-girls school where your child will be seen, heard, and known for who she is now and who she will become. We prepare each girl for her mission in life, for special work which will remain undone unless she does it.

Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr operates under the aegis of the Society of the Sacred Heart, also known as the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus or Religieuses du Sacré-Cœur de Jésus (RSCJ), a religious congregation for women of the Catholic Church. The RSCJ exemplify confident faith in the modern world and this ethos is at the center of our community and the Sacred Heart education. The Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria provide a roadmap to living a purposeful life and serve as a focal point in all Network schools and the more than 150 Sacred Heart schools found throughout the world.

As you contemplate your child’s next educational home, we invite you to imagine an educational environment where every learning experience and tradition is linked to the five Sacred Heart Goals. Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr is a place where:

  • faith and spirituality is at the center of the School’s work and students have opportunities to experience and reflect on their relationship with God.

  • learning is anchored by a sense of wonder and excitement in and out of the classroom and provides opportunities for aligning head and heart.

  • service and social action imbue the life of the school to empower girls to use their voice and creativity for social change and to experience a culture of mutual responsibility for the common good.

  • community members are welcomed, respected for their values and differences, and grow by learning from each other.

  • course work and extracurricular activities provide a platform for self-discovery and expression as well as the cultivation of an empathetic global mindset.

At Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr, education is the journey not the destination. Our students are empowered to understand the world and change it through growing their capacities for leadership, relationships, and empathy while engaging in multi-dimensional academic, extracurricular, and faith/spiritual experiences.

I invite you to visit our campus on the hill to experience a Sacred Heart education in action, to meet our incredibly talented and devoted educators, and to see what our students are accomplishing because of their Sacred Heart education. We look forward to meeting you and your child(ren)!

With warm regards,

Carla Jantos MacMullen
